               The open access quarterly e-journal Earth Science India is a not - for - profit website devoted to the development of Earth /Environmental Sciences of India. It provides a platform for scientists working for core of the Earth to its atmosphere to interact, communicate and share the informations, achievements and researches to their fellow scientists across the Globe. It also provides an opportunity to the students / common people to know more about the Planet Earth and to pose questions to the eminent Earth Scientists to quench their thirst of knowledge. Honorary Editor

Dr. Satish C. Tripathi is Honorary Editor of the e-Journal Earth Science India and Secretary, The Society of Earth Scientists (SES). His main areas of research are structure and tectonics of Precambrians of Himalaya and Central India and Cretaceous of Narmada valley. Dr. Tripathi also led an expedition in the higher reaches of Himachal Himalaya to resolve the structural problem pertaining to Main Central Thrust. His exemplary contribution is in the field of dinosaur fossil bearing Cretaceous sequence of lower Narmada valley in establishing its stratigraphy, palaeogeography, palaeoceanography and palaeoenvironmental signatures of extinction at K/T boundary. He is also member of NWG of IGCP-507. Dr. Tripathi has about 34 research papers to his credit, in international and national journals. He is at present associated with the Geological Survey of India.

Dr. A. K. Tangri is Scientist - SF, Remote Sensing Application Centre, UP, Lucknow. He obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Geology from Universite de Grenoble, France and carried out extensive field work in French, Swiss and Italian Alps. Dr. Tangri worked as Post-Doctoral fellow in Imperial College, London; University of New Castle,UK; Bonn University, Germany and Geneva University, Switzerland. His research interest includes RS & GIS application in glaciology, water resource and urban planning studies. He has published more than 100 research papers.

Dr. Anil K. Gupta, Associate Professor, National Institute of Disaster Management, New Delhi. His area of interest includes environmental systems application & knowledge management, remote sensing, natural resources, EIA & risk analysis/mapping, policy instruments and law. Dr. Gupta has published more than 35 papers. His research/ contribution include projects on Carrying capacity based development planning, Calibration & Validation of Mathematical Models, Green-house effect simulation modeling, Solid waste management, Land-use & land-resource management, Environmental impact/risk assessment, Environmental risk mapping for disaster reduction, Emergency preparedness planning. Dr. Jayanta Kumar Pati is an Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, University of Allahabad. He is an Experimental Petrologist and presently involved in the study of meteoritic impact craters on Earth and Moon (Chandrayaan-I). He has discovered for the first time a confirmed impact structure well known as ‘Dhala impact structure’. Dr. Pati has contributed immensely to the study of Archean Bundelkhand craton (ABC). A painter and an avid dog lover, Dr. Pati, has six major international and five national collaborative projects. He has thirty five research papers in national and international journals.

Dr. Jose James, Deputy Director, Materials and Minerals Division, National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology,Trivendrum, took his  Ph.D. in chemistry from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.  His research interests include preparation and characterization of several materials for electronic applications.  He has awarded certificate of recognition from International Centre for diffraction data USA for contribution to powder diffraction file from 2002 to 2006. He was granted 3 international patents and filed 8 international and 3 Indian patent.  He published 7 research papers in International journals.

Sri Mandapalli Raju, Director, Engineering Geology Division, G.S.I., Hyderabad, carried out extensive geological and geotechnical studies in various irrigation and hydel projects of Uttaranchal and Andhra Pradesh. In the North-Eastern Region- Mizoram, Assam and Meghalaya states, Sri Raju studied landslides both at regional and at site specific levels assessing the terrain and to delineate potential landslide hazard zones.  He is also actively associated with the Indian Society of Engineering Geology in various capacities. Dr. Mukund Sharma is Scientist-E, Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow. His research interests are Precambrian Palaeobiology tracing the evolution of early life. Presently Dr. Sharma is working on Marwar Supergroup Palaeobiology. Receipient of BOYSCAST Fellowship, ILTP Fellowship, Chinese Government Fellowship, ISCA Young Scientist Award, Best Poster Award of Space Science Meet, Dr. Sharma is also Member of IGCP National Working Group 493 and 509.He has developed interest in new area of Astrobiology.

Dr. P. Sanjeeva Rao, Scientist-G, Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi is closely associated with the earth system science activities in India. He is the national coordinator of the Indian Climate Research Program which includes the execution of several large-scale multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional field observational campaigns - Land Surface Process Experiment, Bay of Bengal Monsoon Experiment (BOBMEX), Arabian Sea Monsoon Experiment (ARMEX) etc. He is actively involved in evolving `Continental Tropical Convergence Zone (CTCZ)’ program. At present, Dr. Rao is the Member-Secretary to the Program Advisory Committee for Atmospheric Sciences, Scientific Steering Committee for CTCZ, and Expert Committee on Stratosphere-Troposphere Radar Facilities in India. Dr. Rajiv Sinha, Professor of Geosciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur received his Ph.D. in fluvial sedimentology from University of Cambridge, UK in 1992 and joined as a faculty at IIT Kanpur in 1994 after a brief stint as a scientist at National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. Dr. Sinha received Merh Award in 2006, National Mineral Award in 2002, Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship in 2000 and AICTE Career Award in 1998. His expertise is in fluvial geomorphology and sedimentology and has worked in north Bihar plains for over two decades on river dynamics and flooding characteristics using an integrated approach of remote sensing and GIS. He also works on the response of earth systems - rivers, lakes and delta - to environmental and climate change using a multi-proxy approach.

Dr. Ranadhir Mukhopadhyay is a Senior Scientist of National Institute of Oceanography, Goa. He is the former Director of Mauritius Oceanography Institute, Mauritius. Dr Mukhopadhyay has published about 40 research papers in leading journals and has authored two books- (1) Mineral wealth of the Ocean (1999, AA Balkema-Netherlands, Taylor & Francis-Australia, Oxford & IBH- New Delhi), and (2) The Indian Ocean Nodule Field: Geology and Resource Potential (2007, Elsevier Sciences – Netherlands). A research scientist with specialization in tectonics and geomorphology, Dr. Mukhopadhyay formed InRidge to initiate the mid oceanic ridge research in the country in 1995.  Email: ranadhir@nio.org

Dr. Santosh Kumar is Professor of Geology, Kumaun University, Nainital, Uttarakhand. He specializes is mineralogy and geochemistry of Igneous rocks and currently engaged in study of granites and their enclaves to understand the magma chamber processes, crustal evolution, and geodynamics of orogenic belts and continental interiors. He has authored more than 35 research papers published in national and international journals. Dr. Shiva Kumar Patil, Associate Professor and head of Dr. K. S. Krishnan Geomagnetic Research Laboratory, Allahabad, a regional center of Indian Institute of Geomagnetism, Mumbai. Dr. Patil has made significant research contributions in the areas of palaeomagnetism, rock magnetism and low field AMS studies on the intrusive bodies of Deccan Traps and also on the Precambrian dykes of Dharwar, Bastar, Singhbhum and Bundelkhand Cratons defining the magma flow directions and their palaeomagnetic ages. He has carried out Environmental magnetism on the deep sea core sediments of Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal to understand the palaeo climates in collaboration with NIO, Goa. Dr. Subhasish Das is Professor, Department of Geology and Geophysics, IIT, Kharagpur. His main areas of work are Proterozoic sedimentation in Singhbhum and Kolhan basin, Eastern India. Prof. Das has handled several research projects and acted as consultant in a research project funded by Broken Hill Products, Australia. He has about 38 research papers to his credit in international and national journals. He has been a Guest Faculty, Department of Geology, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Howrah.

Dr Vijay Kumar is Scientist-E1, Water Resources System Division, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee. He obtained his Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Dr. Kumar has published more than 60 papers in various journals.
