From Editor's Desk

Half of the time of International Year of Planet Earth (IYPE) is over and we have to introspect that how far we have reached and what efforts are still required to strengthen our future planning. IYPE has offered ample opportunity to earth scientists to prove their worthiness and readiness for the cause of the society and our mother Earth.

The Society of Earth Scientists (SES)- a new initiative to provide a single platform for this multidisciplinary science wishes to constitute a National Executive Committee. Proposal for the same has been sent to Heads of organizations, scientific societies, distinguished scientists and our Fellows for their opinion and support (download proposal). It is our appeal to all to come forward and join hands together for safer Earth.

ESI is thankful to Environmental Geology (Springer) for publishing an article on Earth Science India in its online publication (http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s00254-008-1398-6) and in print later supporting our outreach activities.

We request the visitors to please continue to send their feedbacks.
